Hamu(e)mon
Hamu(e)mon is a progressive rock/metal band from Sandnes, Rogaland, Norway. Our inspirtations includes the great 70s prog acts like Genesis, Yes and King Crimson, and modern progressive metal like Opeth, Dream Theater and Between the Buried and Me.
Biography:
Tonje
Hamu(e)mon started up as a two-man band in Sandnes, Norway late 2005. Eirik Brandal on guitar, bass guitar, drums and keyboard, and Erling Tjelle on rhythm guitar and vocals. They immediately started to write material for their first album, "Tonje". The album was finished autumn 2006 and was released digitally.
Immediately after Tonje was released, they started to write new songs for (the more serious) album "Hits for Shits".
Outwards the summer of 2007, a third album was proposed, called "Henriette". This album was supposed to change the style of Hamu(e)mon from highly experimental music to progressive metal, unfortunately, it never got that far.
In July 2007, Hamu(e)mon got two new band members, Pål H. Alvsaker on bass and Thomas H. Briedis on keyboard. Some months later, Yngve M. Hereide joined Hamu(e)mon on drums and Nikolai Ravn Aarskog joined Hamu(e)mon on violin.
Hits for Shits
Immediately after Tonje was released, they started to write new songs for the more serious album "Hits for Shits". This is where Eirik and Erling's musical dexterities come to life, a good example would be "Den Gode Fe, Sopp?. The main change from Tonje to this album is that Hits for Shits have more serious vocals and is more metal. The last finishes were made during the exams, but that did not stop HAMU(e)MON. Hits for Shits got top grades, just as their exams.
Henriette
Outwards the summer of 2007, a third album was proposed, called "Henriette". This album was supposed to change the style of HAMU(e)MON from alternative rock to progressive metal, unfortunately, it never got that far. Henriette was going to be a concept album about Erling's life with and without Henriette (a girl), but it was put aside, as the recording computer refused to cooperate, and the summer vacation started..However, a couple of songs were recorded. These songs were released on a CD single, which you can download from our discography.
In July 2007, HAMU(e)MON got two new band members, Pål H. Alvsaker on bass and Thomas H. Briedis on keyboard. A new album is planned when the recording studio is ready again, probably in August.
